چکیده

The current proliferation and ubiquity of electronic applications and services has motivated the need for user authentication means, which must be convenient and reliable at the same time. Nowadays, access control and user authentication are common tasks that are usually performed with tokens or passwords. In the case of handheld devices, user authentication is performed in most cases with passwords that are provided through keypad-based monomodal interfaces. Biometric-based systems represent an alternative to traditional user validation methods, as they rely on anatomical (e.g. fingerprint, iris) or behavioral (e.g. voice, signature) traits to authenticate a user (Jain, Ross & Pankanti, 2006). Mobile signature verification: feature robustness and performance comparison

In this study, the effects of using handheld devices on the performance of automatic signature verification systems are studied. The authors compare the discriminative power of global and local signature features between mobile devices and pen tablets, which are the prevalent acquisition device in the research literature. Individual feature discriminant ratios and feature selection techniques a...

Signature Verification on Handheld Devices

Signature verification for handheld devices (e.g. smartphones, PDAs, etc.) as an authentication method is studied. Signature can be used to authenticate users in mobile networks for secure transactions. The challenges of signature verification on mobile devices are addressed and analyzed and the architecture for a verification platform is outlined. We propose a verification system adapted to ha...

Incorporating Signature Verification on Handheld Devices with User-dependent Hidden Markov Models

A dynamic signature verification system based on Hidden Markov Models is presented. For each user model, the number of states and Gaussian mixtures of the Hidden Markov Model is automatically set in order to optimize the verification performance. By introducing this userdependent structure in the statistical modeling of signatures, the system error rate is significantly decreased in the challen...

Automatic Signature and Graphical Password Verification : Discriminant Features and New Application Scenarios – Tesis Doctoral –

The proliferation of handheld devices such as smartphones and tablets brings a new scenario for biometric authentication, and in particular to automatic signature verification. Research on signature verification has been traditionally carried out using signatures acquired on digitizing tablets or Tablet-PCs. This PhD Thesis addresses the problem of user authentication on handled devices using h...

Use of the Shearlet Transform and Transfer Learning in Offline Handwritten Signature Verification and Recognition

Despite the growing growth of technology, handwritten signature has been selected as the first option between biometrics by users. In this paper, a new methodology for offline handwritten signature verification and recognition based on the Shearlet transform and transfer learning is proposed. Since, a large percentage of handwritten signatures are composed of curves and the performance of a sig...
